That chimes with my feeling about the Viola. As a composer I think the most important part to get right in the arrangement/orchestration is the Vla. If you get that right, and let it sing,(rather than burying this beautiful instrument without trace in a String Mosh), then everything else follows. Case in point the great Vla part in The Four Seasons, which in the hands of a great player, (see recent Perf by Orch of Swan – David Le Page on fiddle solo, Adrian Turner leading up the Vlas) is a revelation.
