Viola

I’m a freelance viola player, based in London. I do the usual freelance stuff – orchestras, choral societies, sessions.

As well as duo recitals with pianist Masachi Nishiyama, my other ongoing projects include a trio called the Meteors Ensemble with Masachi and violinist Yuka Matsumoto, and the ensemble Harmonie du Soir with mezzo-soprano Hannah Beynon.

Here are some of the orchestras I play, or have played, with:

Bath Philharmonia, Brandenburg Sinfonia, Camerata of London, Dartington Festival Orchestra, English Concert Orchestra, English Festival Orchestra, Festival Chamber Orchestra, Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra, Hokusai Chamber Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of St Paul’s, Orchestra of the Swan, Oxford Philomusica, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Sinfonia ViVA, Southern Sinfonia, Stour Festival Orchestra, Surrey Opera, Worthing Symphony Orchestra

(See under ‘Repertoire’ for a catalogue of the orchestral repertoire I’ve learned.)

I don’t do much by way of teaching (long story), although I do some individual and sectional coaching from time to time.
